What is ChatHindi?+
ChatHindi is a free real-time chat platform built for Hindi and English speakers in India. It offers group chat rooms, private DMs, voice notes, video calls, image sharing, games, tools and more — all in your browser with no app download required.
Is ChatHindi free to use?+
Yes — 100% free. All features including video calls, voice notes, group rooms, games and tools are available at no cost. ChatHindi is supported by non-intrusive display advertising. We will never charge for core communication features.
Do I need to download an app?+
No download required. ChatHindi is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that runs entirely in your browser. However, you can install it on your phone's home screen for an app-like experience — tap "Add to Home Screen" in your browser menu.
Which devices and browsers are supported?+
ChatHindi works on any modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Samsung Internet. Supported on Android phones, iPhones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers. Camera and microphone features require browser permission to be granted.
Which languages are supported?+
ChatHindi supports messaging in all languages. Dedicated chat rooms exist for Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Kannada, Odia, Assamese, Punjabi, and English. You can type in any language using your phone's or computer's keyboard.
Accounts & Registration
Do I need to register to use ChatHindi?+
No. You can join as a guest without registering. Guest accounts are active for 24 hours and let you explore all public chat rooms. Creating a free account gives you a permanent username, profile, friends list, badges, and access to all features.
Do I need an email address to sign up?+
No. Registration only requires a username and password — no email, no phone number. We designed it this way to protect your privacy and make sign-up as fast as possible.
How do I delete my account?+
You can request account deletion by contacting us at support@chathindi.in with your username. We will delete your account and associated data within 7 business days. Alternatively, contact an admin inside the app.
I forgot my password — what do I do?+
Since we don't collect email addresses, we cannot send a password reset link. If you forget your password, you will need to create a new account. We recommend writing your password in a safe place or using a password manager.
Messaging & Features
How do video and audio calls work?+
Calls use WebRTC — a secure browser-to-browser technology. Calls are peer-to-peer and do not pass through our servers. Your camera and microphone are never activated without your explicit permission click in the chat interface.
Can I send images and GIFs?+
Yes. You can upload images from your device, paste an image directly from the clipboard (Ctrl+V or Cmd+V), or use your mobile keyboard's GIF button. Images are stored securely on Cloudinary CDN.
How do I create a chat room?+
After logging in, click the + button next to Rooms in the sidebar. Enter a room name (letters, numbers, hyphens only) and click Create. Your room is immediately available for others to join.
Can I edit or delete messages?+
Yes. Hover over any message you sent to see Edit and Delete options. You can edit messages within 10 minutes of sending. You can delete your own messages for everyone, or just for yourself. Admins can delete any message in any room.
Safety & Privacy
How do I report or block someone?+
Click on any user's name to open their profile card, then click Ignore to block them — their messages will be hidden from you. To report serious abuse, email support@chathindi.in with the username and a description. We review all reports within 24 hours.
Is ChatHindi safe for children?+
ChatHindi is intended for users 13 and above. We have content moderation, admin oversight, ignore/block features, and DM controls. Parents can read our

Does ChatHindi sell my personal data?+
No. We do not sell, trade, or rent personal data to third parties. We only collect the minimum data needed to operate the service. Read our full

Technical
Why is ChatHindi not loading?+
Try refreshing the page. If the problem persists: clear your browser cache, try a different browser, check your internet connection, or check if there is a service outage by contacting us at support@chathindi.in.
How do I install ChatHindi on my phone?+
ChatHindi is a PWA (Progressive Web App). On Android Chrome: tap the ⋮ menu → "Add to Home Screen". On iOS Safari: tap the Share button → "Add to Home Screen". This adds ChatHindi to your home screen like a native app with push notifications.
My camera/microphone is not working on calls. Why?+
The most common reasons: (1) You denied browser permission for camera/mic — go to browser Settings → Site Settings → reset permissions for ChatHindi. (2) You are on HTTP instead of HTTPS — camera/mic requires a secure connection. (3) Another app is using the camera — close other video call apps first.
