Community Standards

All users of ChatHindi — whether registered or guest — agree to follow these community standards:

✅ Always Allowed

• Chatting, sharing ideas, making friends, discussing any topic respectfully
• Sharing images, voice notes, GIFs in appropriate context
• Using Hindi, English, or any Indian language
• Creating rooms around any legal topic
• Disagreeing with others — politely and respectfully

🚫 Never Allowed

• Harassment & Bullying — threatening, intimidating, or repeatedly targeting another user
• Sexual Content — sharing explicit sexual content in any context; any sexual content involving minors under any circumstances
• Hate Speech — content that attacks people based on religion, caste, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or disability
• Doxxing — sharing someone else's private personal information (address, phone, workplace) without consent
• Spam — sending the same message repeatedly, advertising commercial services without permission
• Impersonation — pretending to be another person, especially a public figure or ChatHindi staff
• Illegal Content — sharing content that violates Indian law or international law
• Self-harm Content — promoting, glorifying, or providing instructions for self-harm or suicide

How We Enforce These Rules

Automated Systems

Our platform has basic automated filtering. However, we rely primarily on human review for moderation decisions rather than automated removal, to avoid false positives.

Human Moderation

Our admin team reviews all reports manually. We do not outsource this to third parties. Every report is read by a human who makes a considered decision.

How to Report

In the App

Click on any user's avatar → open their profile → use the report / ignore option. For messages, hover over the message and use the report option if available.

By Email

Email support@chathindi.in with:

• The username of the person you are reporting
• A description of what happened
• Screenshots if you have them (optional but helpful)

We respond to all reports within 24 hours. For child safety emergencies, we respond within 12 hours.

Transparency

Admin Access

ChatHindi admins can view all public room messages for moderation purposes. Private DMs are accessible to admins only when there is a reported safety concern that requires investigation. We do not read private messages for any other purpose.

Data Retention for Safety

We retain account information for banned users to prevent ban evasion. Deleted messages are removed from the visible chat but may be retained for a short period in database backups before being permanently purged.

Appealing a Ban

If you believe your account was banned in error, you can appeal by emailing support@chathindi.in with your username and the reason you believe the ban was incorrect. We review all appeals and respond within 48 hours.
